How we check

Every fact in the Atlas comes from the company’s own website: fee schedules, account agreements, card pricing pages and help-center articles. Not from reviews, forums or news stories.

The rules we follow

  • Official sources only. Each fact links to the page or PDF we read it on.
  • Never guess. If we can’t verify a field on an official page, it says not confirmed. That means “we couldn’t check it,” not “it doesn’t exist.”
  • Dated. Every entry shows when it was last checked. We aim to re-check sources weekly with an automated change detector that flags pages whose fee text has changed, then a person re-reads them.
  • Out-of-date warning. If an entry hasn’t been re-checked in more than 90 days, it automatically shows May be out of date.
  • No affiliate links. Nobody pays to be listed or ranked.

The forgiveness score

A quick way to compare how much breathing room a company gives you. Points come only from verified facts, so a “not confirmed” field earns nothing. Max 11.

What we look forPoints
No fee at all (late fee, or overdraft fee for bank accounts)+3
Grace period or cushion before a fee hits+2
First late fee waived or not needed (partial credit if only reduced/possible)+2
Overdraft can be turned off / declined instead of charged+1
Autopay available (and stated on the source)+1
Card lock or merchant blocking+1
Other ADHD-friendly features (alerts, pick your due date, reminders)+1

Credit cards, bills and bank accounts are scored on the same scale, so compare within a category for the fairest picture.

Rules that affect fees

Credit card late fees: Vacated on April 15, 2025 by court order (Chamber of Commerce v. CFPB, No. 4:24-cv-00213-P). It is not in effect. CFPB source.

What this isn’t

This isn’t financial advice. Your own account may have different terms from the public pages (older accounts, state rules, promotions). Always check the source and your own agreement.
